The Importance of the Team Member:
- Why am I here, Lord?
- I am here to praise God and to do His work here on earth. I am here to be “Jesus with skin on” for the candidates this weekend.
- I am here to serve Jesus by serving the team and the candidates. I am here to help spread the Christian community by bringing Jesus Christ to this weekend.
- I am here to know the intent of the talks and the meditations and to help accomplish the purpose of the weekend by guiding and directing discussions among the candidates.
- I am here to display Christian discipleship, love of my fellow human beings, acceptance of other persons as individuals by leadership (not domination), and to show my concern for others.
- I am here so that when the weekend is over, any of the butterflies will be able to look at me and say “I came here looking for Jesus, and I found Him in you.”
- I am here to ask humbly that God’s will be done, not mine.
- I am here to submit my heart and soul to Jesus so that my love will bloom and grow.
- While I am here, I will ask in every situation, “What would Jesus do?”
General Guidelines:
- Remember, you are here to serve. Candidates should not get anything for themselves. Also, candidates should not go off by themselves. Be sensitive; someone may just need a little space.
- Maintain an attitude of prayer and worship. (You can have fun while doing this)
- Maintain a spirit of cooperation and flexibility. Remember to receive your prayer coin.
- Do not use any electronic equipment, except in the case of emergency.
- Your Section Head Chas should know where you are at all times. Do not get “lost.” Do not leave your area when there is work to do. If your work is caught up, and your Section Head approves, you may take a break to rest or hear a talk. Be sure to agree on what time you will return. If you do not keep up with your part, it becomes a burden on someone else.
- No one should leave the campground except in the case of an emergency or with the approval of the Men/Women’s Leader.
- Keep your service area covered at all times. Respect the speakers by honoring the confidentiality of their talks.
- No one except team members and candidates should hear the talks.
- The dress is casual but tasteful.
- Vida Nueva policy and state and federal laws prohibit the use of tobacco by minors. Smoking is to be done in designated areas only, and all butts are to be thrown in the designated trash. No weapons of any kind are permitted on the weekend.
- It is desirable that general palanca letters be written before the weekend starts; however, this is not always possible. A place will be identified for this so you can write last-minute notes without being seen by the candidates. Please do this.
- A schedule of events and prayer palanca will be posted in the storeroom, dorm, kitchen, palanca room and chapel. Please keep yourself informed about what is going on. Pay close attention to staying on schedule. Time is quickly lost if everyone is not prepared for each activity ON TIME.
- For the team picture, team members should let the candidates stand in front.
- NO ONE SHOULD ENTER OR LEAVE THE CONFERENCE ROOM OR CHAPEL DURING A TALK OR SERVICE. Be an example for the candidates.
- Be prompt when the bell rings, respond quickly. Be quiet and respectful in the chapel. SMILE.
- Encourage candidates to use the restrooms at appropriate times, but don’t make a big deal if someone needs to go at another time.
- If anything comes up that you cannot handle, please see your Section Head first before the Head Cha.
- Do not ask special favors of other chas. Remember your fellow team members and be considerate of them, as you are the candidates.
- Be there, if at all possible, for set-up. Let your area head know if you will not be able to attend the scheduled set up.
